Who convinced us that we’re the superior species? And who said subjective thinking was all that and a bag of chips!?
The Buddhists say that the thinking mind is most functional when it’s the servant of consciousness and does a really poor job when our thoughts rule us. Observing the rationale these days exhibited by people in high places, it’s clear that the mind can distort reality. Is there a higher truth, or is it all subject to interpretation? When it comes to irrefutable facts, such as melting polar icecaps, wildfires, arid soil, sea levels rising along with rising temperatures, the interpretation may be inconvenient, but it’s pretty clear.
The melting polar ice caps stand as a stark and visible testament to the escalating impacts of climate change on our planet. The consequences are far-reaching, with rising sea levels threatening coastal communities, wildlife habitats transforming, and weather patterns becoming increasingly unpredictable. The alarming rate at which the polar ice caps are melting underscores the urgent need for collective action to mitigate the effects of climate change. This environmental crisis serves as a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness of our planet and the imperative to adopt sustainable practices to preserve the delicate balance of our ecosystems. As the ice continues to recede, it beckons humanity to reevaluate our environmental stewardship and strive for a future where the majestic landscapes can be preserved for generations to come.
We’re being forced to look at realities beyond convenience and beyond ourselves. Let’s pray that humanity rises to the occasion.
